About Eritrea
Eritrea, oficialmente el Estado de Eritrea, es un país situado al noreste de África. Limita al norte y al oeste con Sudán; al sur con Etiopía y Yibuti, y el este es bañado por el mar Rojo. Forman igualmente parte de Eritrea las islas Dahlak, un archipiélago de coral cercano a la costa de Massawa. Su nombre proviene de la antigua colonia italiana Eritrea, creada el 1 de enero de 1890, llamada así por el Mare Erythraeum a su vez del griego «erythros», que quiere decir «rojo». Se independizó en 1993 de Etiopía. Su capital y ciudad más poblada es Asmara.
