About Qingdao

Qingdao es una ciudad portuaria de la provincia de Shandong en la República Popular China. Antiguamente era conocida como Jiao'ao. Está situada en la península de Shandong y orientada en dirección al mar Amarillo. Actualmente es un importante puerto marítimo, base naval y centro industrial. Entre 1898 y 1914 fue la capital de la concesión colonial alemana de Jiaozhou. En esta ciudad se realizaron parte de las competiciones náuticas de los Juegos Olímpicos de Pekín 2008. Su área es de 11 282 km² y su población total para 2020 superó los 10 millones de habitantes.
